PeaPod Solar Home

PeaPod Homes™ LLC offers an ultra-efficient and patent-pending passive solar kit home supported by a complete service fulfillment model. By integrating multiple energy saving steps into a performance-engineered core package, PeaPod Homes™ has simplified the path to a Zero Net Energy future.

More solar energy reaches earth in one hour than all of the fossil energy consumed in a year. And yet, American homeowners have had few options to reduce their fossil energy consumption and costs. The home we build today is essentially the same home we built 100 years ago. There are high-end and off-beat passive solar homes, but where are the answers for the ordinary American? As fuel costs rise, and global warming awareness increase, Americans are looking for mainstream answers.

In response to this need, PeaPod Homes™ has developed advanced computer models of an ultra-efficient passive solar kit home. They have optimized thermal performance without sacrificing aesthetics or functionality. The flexible design program allows customers to take control of the configuration and layout of their home. And PeaPod Homes™ are expandable too. PeaPod Homes™ appeal to anyone building a home who wishes to reduce their operational costs, carbon footprint, and improve resale value. And as if that isn’t enough, PeaPod Homes™ is developing an al a carte menu of optional renewable energy systems which can be added to the home at initial construction or at any point in the future.

PeaPod Homes’ breakthrough product is supported by a complete service fulfillment model. With flexible designs and expandable core models, PeaPod Homes™ employ a novel web platform to bring clients together with qualified architects to finalize their design. Customers can choose from three levels of construction support: trained foremen who can work with a buyer’s crew, an entire trained crew, or a fully authorized turnkey builder. If needed, PeaPod Homes™ assists clients with securing financing through a nationwide lender. Once funding is secured, they coordinate the fabrication and delivery of the component package for completion of the weather-tight shell on the owner’s foundation by the selected construction team. The result is a technically advanced passive solar home customized by the buyer, fabricated regionally, and erected locally. Known for their performance Peapod Homes™ are emerging as a decisive and attainable first step toward Zero Net Energy.

PeaPod Homes™ markets and sells through three venues: the internet, a network of authorized builders, and building expos. PeaPod HomesTM is a Wisconsin based LLC organized January 2008 by three partners: Van B. Krzywicki, Kathleen Lugosch Architects Inc., and Mark Rittle. Launching the right product at the right time with an unprecedented capacity for scale, PeaPod Homes™ has won numerous awards. In the mid west, PeaPod Homes™ placed as one of 51 semifinalists in Phase 1 of the Wisconsin Governor’s Business Plan competition sponsored by the Wisconsin Technology Council in February 2008. In March they also took 2nd place and “crowd favorite” in an elevator pitch competition sponsored by Wisconsin Entrepreneur’s Network. Scoring again on the east coast, PeaPod Homes™ placed as semi-finalists in the prestigious Ignite Clean Energy competition sponsored by MIT Enterprise Forum of Cambridge.

PPH officially launched their product on March 12 at the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association Expo in Boston. The well attended event was addressed by Governor Duval Patrick. Attendees lined up three deep at the PeaPod Homes booth and many commented that PeaPod Homes™ was one of this year’s favorite exhibits. PeaPod Homes™’ next show is the Hudson Valley Green Fair on April 26 and 27th in Rhinebeck, NY. For more information please visit their website at www.peapodhomes.com.
