The New American Dream

   Energy Independence

Opinion

There was a time when we, the founders of this website, considered that our opinions did not matter as much as the service we could provide by just spreading the word about Solar Energy and alternatives to America's current energy menu. That time is over. We considered a blog format - and maybe that will happen in the future - but right now we only want to give our own opinions. We feel that the opposition has enough air-time and we don't want to give them another outlet. Forgive the cynicism but if we have learned anything from the last 3 years it is that: so-called "political will" is purchased, or rather sold, to the highest bidder; that "Conservative" doesn't equate doing what's best for business and industry in America, but only what's good for the country's ESTABLISHED corporate entities; that people who SHOULD be promoting innovation, opportunity and ventures because they can be profitable and industrially sound - would rather keep America shackled to outmoded, outdated technology thus keeping the established sources of profit within their small kabal, jealously guarding their own "bowl of rice". We find the current situation threatening to America's national sovereignty. We consider opposition to solar, wind, geo-thermal modes of energy blatantly anti-American and UNPATRIOTIC. REAL AMERICANS want an alternative to fossil and nuclear fuel.

GOP Reps consider alternatives to oil "anti-energy"

After reading this article in the Denver Post I was set ablaze at the short-sightedness of some lawmakers in the U.S. Pay close attention to the last sentence where U.S. Rep. Tom McClintock says: "We should not follow the president's poor planning in increasing the funding for these anti-energy boondoggles." I've quoted a related article on our Home page in it's entirety because I considered this and other statements outrageous and partisan stupidity.

These Representatives are confusing "energy" with "oil". THEY think energy ONLY comes from oil. What the Representative from California and his 8 cohorts are admitting is that they consider solar and wind energy as anti-ExxonMobil, anti-Royal Dutch Shell, anti-PetroChina, anti-Saudi Aramco. In short- anti-OIL energy. I have to agree! Solar and wind energy are the alternatives to oil. But these lawmakers are saying that we should not have knowledge of alternatives to oil and that research into any such process is not worth exploring. They say we should stay ignorant of any alternatives.

They want to keep America committed to the exact same mistake we "common people" have recognized since the 1970s. They have to have been paid to be so ignorant. I could frame my reaction diplomatically but I'm too enraged. What thinking person doesn't GET that because of our dependence on oil we are transferring our wealth out of our country? Why would any supposed intelligent person refuse to clear the way for solar and wind energy on the largest possible scale? Doing so creates new jobs, new industries, new sciences, new sources of income. The only reasons I can think of paint such individuals as sell outs. Ignorant, greedy, short-sighted, and politically ambitious to a degree that makes them dangerous to America's energy health.

Since these lawmakers are "free market conservatives" - maybe they think we should wait for the market place to justify alternative energy. Maybe they want us to wait until ExxonMobil, RD Shell, PetroChina and others decide America is ready for alternatives. Yeah! Thats the ticket! Let's wait until the established OIL COMPANIES want us to have an alternative to oil. Please get the sarcasm in those statements. I doubt anyone could be so naive to believe that would ever happen.

Let me put this as seriously as I can. I request an investigation into the funding sources for these elected persons. I would like to know which lobbyists they have been entertained by. I would like a report on what companies and organizations are supporting them politically. I would not be surprised to find that every supporter has some anti-American-alternative-energy agenda.
